What is an interesting fun fact about you?
I became a Covergirl back in 2014 for an ad campaign with Pitch Perfect 2! I known as “The Spitfire”: 1/5th of The Rockabellas, Covergirl’s first all-female a cappella group that was created for the campaign.
Samantha Schultz, began her career as a young singer-songwriter and guitarist in the nurturing folk clubs and festivals of her hometown Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. While attending Victoria School of The Arts, she released her debut album, Both Sides (2006), at the age of 16 to critical acclaim. After years of developing a deep love and dedication to music while performing across Canada, Samantha was awarded The Gary Slaight Family Scholarship in 2009: a full-ride scholarship to Berklee College Of Music in Boston, MA. Her second full length album, Ink To Paper (2011), highlighted her experiences throughout college in the United States. Schultz graduated from the four-year degree program in 2013, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Music and a Minor in Africana Music Studies.
Soon after graduating, Samantha relocated to Los Angeles, CA, where she has called home ever since. Years of session work and live performing have shaped her into a unique musician with a wide range of skill sets; a chameleon of a vocalist, gifted guitarist, seasoned entertainer, and powerful songwriter, Samantha has had the opportunity to travel the world and survive in the thriving LA music scene. From becoming a Covergirl to performing at the legendary Hollywood Bowl; or from Abu Dhabi to Finland, Samantha has navigated many rewarding (and many challenging) opportunities as a working musician in today’s music industry.
After a long hiatus from releasing original music, Schultz returned in 2020 with new music boasting a fresh, soulful blend of jazz and R&B, while remaining true to the folk, storytelling roots that made her first two albums so special. Drawing from the likes of India.Arie, Allen Stone, Sheryl Crow, Emily King, Stevie Wonder, and Amos Lee, Samantha Schultz brings to the table her own brand of musical authenticity with a soulful sound uniquely formed through the growth and experiences of this Canadian girl in an American world.”
