James is such an easy going character outside of his work, loves cooking and a good game of chess. He has recently become a father, and is thrilled to announce the arrival of his little boy Felix!
James Smith [Exposed, Out Of The Blue, Lidice: A Light Across The Sea] is a Hampshire, UK based composer with years of experience in creating a musical voice that resonates with characters and their narrative.
From his early years James was brought up surrounded by music in the traditional brass banding world. He went on to study music at Keele, Sydney, & Chichester Universities culminating in a 1st Class Hons degree and Masters degrees in Professional Composition & Orchestration for media, Music Composition and Research into Music. Having left an extensive bout of academia James has now founded Deer Park Studios in Hampshire, UK. With a vibrant background working with film-makers and musicians all over the world, James is a powerhouse of modern cinematic music. From writing production music for Pink Shark Music, scoring nominated shorts at the LA Student Film Festival [2020], providing music for the BBC, to recording the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestras. James is a young composer early in his career that is relentless and gets so much joy from his work.
